Section 6166(a) Non-Deferred Tax Underpayment on Form 4768, note 1: The estate tax return was timely filed on the extended return due date of May 9, 2019. The TC 150 records the amount of tax assessed pursuant to this original return (as adjusted by any math error corrections that might have been determined by IRS) and establishes the Tax Module for the estate account. Only one TC 150 will post to an estate tax account. Supplemental estate tax returns will each generate TC 971 with TC 976. The subsequent posting date of the TC 150 assessment (July 10, 2019) reflects passage of internal processing time between the date the return was received by IRS, the date the account was established, and the date the math verified amount of tax reported on the return was assessed. It therefore does not reflect the actual return filing date. |
| Section 6166(a) Non-Deferred Tax Underpayment on Form 4768, note 2: TC 670 designates a payment received on November 18, 2018, 9 days after the timely filing of Form 4768 and payment of estimated estate tax that will not be deferred under a section 6166 election expected to be filed with Form 706 six months later. This TC 670 posting occurred before the TC 150 posting, and represents the payment submitted with the filing of Form 4768. |
| Section 6166(a) Non-Deferred Tax Underpayment on Form 4768, note 3: TC 610 represents the payment submitted with a return. It is posted as of the date the return was timely filed, not on the subsequent date it might have been received by IRS. |
| Section 6166(a) Non-Deferred Tax Underpayment on Form 4768, note 4: In section 6166 cases, interest is manually computed via TC 340 and is not computer generated. |
